REPORT ON CRAWFORD, TEXAS from Alison Sterling Nichols

September 14, 2005

Contact: Patrick Riggs, Chairman, Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee

Join Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee (HCDCC) in welcoming Alison Sterling Nichols for a presentation of slides and stories about her recent trip to Crawford, Texas. Alison stood in solidarity with Cindy Sheehan, mother of Army Specialist Casey Sheehan who was killed just 5 days after arriving in Iraq.

See Alison's powerful Slide Show and hear how she and her 2-year old daughter Camden participated in part of this three-week-long peaceful vigil in Crawford, Texas. Alison was among thousands who came to support Cindy Sheehan in her determination to meet with the president. Although the meeting never took place, Sheehan's message resonated with many people across the country and reopened a national dialogue about the war.

Alison's slide show takes place at the Democratic Party Headquarters in Eureka on Tuesday, September 20th. We will also talk about how to get involved in Sept 24th - the National Day of Protest and the Eureka Peace March. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The presentation begins at 6. Admission is free, and donations to the progressive, anti-war HCDCC will be welcome. For more details call 764-2365.
